Our Story

It all started back in the spring of 1972. A car salesman by the name of Don Hubbard lived on Seneca creek along with his wife Joan and two sons. After repeatedly being laid off from the car business Don and Joan decided to make a go at working for themselves. Already having water access and several small boats they took a chance at becoming commercial fishermen. Their Company, Don’s Crabs was founded the following summer in 1973. Shortly after that both of their sons Chris age 12 at the time and Jeff age 8 at the time got involved with the business as much as possible. We started out and still are commercial watermen, working the waters of the Chesapeake Bay daily to bring in the freshest blue crabs possible. To this day Chris and Jeff both operate their own crabbing boats covering the Chesapeake Bay from Hooper’s Island to above Poole’s Island and bringing their catch to the stores daily.

Don’s Crabs has had several retail stores over the years located in different neighborhoods around the Baltimore area, back in the early 80″s we also had a restaurant in Stewartstown, PA. We are located at 1764 East Joppa Road. For over 40 years we’ve been servicing the Baltimore area with quality seafood products and a family-run atmosphere that continues today.
